La Soufrandière : Pouilly-Vinzelles Climat "Les Quarts" Cuvée Zen 2021
Burgundy - Pouilly-Vinzelles - White Wine -This Pouilly-Vinzelles climat "Les Quarts" cuvée Zen 2021 is one of the great plot-based cuvées of the Domaine de la Soufrandière. A parcel of 2ha in total, whose vines are between 48 and 80 years old and on a terroir considered by many as the largest in Pouilly-Vinzelles. Located on a hillside ideally exposed to the South-East, the oldest Chardonnay vines of the vineyard evolve on a living clay-limestone soil (Bajocian rich in siliceous crystals) and give birth to a great wine for ageing.
The "Zen cuvée" of the Domaine de la Soufrandière designates wines that have been vinified without sulphur; the only addition being 20mg/L during bottling to stabilize the wines. A concentration well below the standards expected for AB (organic) and Demeter (biodynamic) certifications.
Tasting notes:
The robe: shiny golden with light green reflections
The nose: fruity (green apple), with candied and greedy notes (quince)
The palate: frank attack, the mouth is refined, complex and rich, the final is long and perfectly balanced
12bouteilles' advice: A great Burgundy wine, to be kept for another 5 to 10 years and to be served around 12°C on a platter of cold meats, a dish in sauce, a white meat, a noble fish or a fruity dessert.
The Domaine La Soufrandière is a reference in winemaking in the Mâconnais region of Burgundy. Founded in 1999 by the Bret brothers, this family estate extends over twenty hectares of vines cultivated in biodynamic agriculture. Their wines, made from Chardonnay, perfectly reflect the expression of the terroir and are recognized for their high quality. The Bret brothers attach great importance to respecting the environment and biodiversity, which is reflected in their approach to production.
