Marked by a great heterogeneity, the 2020 vintage reflects the diversity of the Burgundy vineyard. The Chardonnays in Pouilly-Vinzelles are real nuggets; expressive, complex and with great freshness. However, the harvest has not been easy for the winegrowers, who have suffered from numerous climatic hazards (drought being the first problem). Despite this historical precocity and its complexity for the actors of the sector, 2020 is a beautiful vintage for the Burgundian white wines.

The Pouilly-Vinzelles climat "Les Quarts" 2020 is one of the great parcel-based vintages of Domaine de la Soufrandière. A parcel of 2ha in total, with vines ranging in age from 48 to 80 years and on a terroir considered by many to be the largest in Pouilly-Vinzelles. Located on a hillside ideally exposed to the South-East, the oldest Chardonnay vines in the vineyard evolve on a living clay-limestone soil (Bajocian rich in siliceous crystals) and give birth to a great wine for aging. 

Tasting notes: 

The robe: shiny golden with light green reflections

The nose: on the fruit (green apple), with candied and greedy notes (quince)

The palate: frank attack, the mouth is refined, complex and rich, the finish is long and perfectly balanced

The advice of 12bottles:

A great Burgundy wine, to be kept for another 5 to 10 years and served around 12°C with a board of cold meats, a dish in sauce, white meat, a noble fish or a fruity dessert.
