Soufrandière: Pouilly-Fuissé "En Chatenay" cuvée zen 2020
Burgundy - Pouilly Fuissé - White Wine -The 2020 harvest has not been easy for the Burgundian winegrowers who had to face a very singular year, marked by a great precocity from budburst to harvest, but also by complex climatic episodes (drought leading to phenomena of roasting and wilting...). However, the winemakers are unanimous about the quality of the vintage; the wines are full of sunshine and enjoy a perfect balance and an impressive freshness.
The Pouilly-Fuissé climat "En Chatenay" 2020 is one of the great parcel-based cuvées of Domaine de la Soufrandière. With a total surface of 0.69 ha and located on a magnificent combe, at the foot of the Roche de Vergisson, the Chardonnay parcel benefits from an ideal soil and exposure, which gives juices of a great freshness, tense and perfectly balanced. This confidential cuvée (between 900 and 1500 bottles/year) is entirely vinified without sulphur until bottling, during which there is a very small addition of 20mg/L to stabilize the wine. This is what the domain calls the "Cuvée Zen".
Tasting notes:
The robe: light yellow with brilliant reflections
The nose: aromas of citrus fruits, white flesh fruits (peach) with more buttered and candied notes
The palate: frank attack, the mouth is complex, both greedy and mineral, the end of mouth is of an impressive length and complexity
The advice of 12bottles:
A great Burgundy wine which will sublimate a board of delicatessen, a white meat, or a fatty fish (salmon), to be served around 12°C- 13°C
