Yunnan - Red Wine -Ao Yun 2022 is one of the most prestigious and unique wines in the world, produced in the Yunnan region of China, at the foothills of the Himalayas near Shangri-La. Owned by LVMH, Ao Yun represents the ambition to craft a world-class Bordeaux-style wine from an extraordinary terroir.
The vineyards are located at altitudes between 2,200 and 2,600 meters, where extreme conditions—high UV exposure, large temperature variation and complex soils—contribute to the wine’s remarkable freshness, purity and structure.
The 2022 vintage continues the estate’s tradition of excellence, combining power, precision and elegance, with a particularly refined aromatic profile.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: deep ruby with intense purple reflections.
Nose: complex and refined, with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and blueberry, layered with floral notes (violet), mountain herbs, graphite and subtle spice.
Palate: full-bodied yet precise, with fine-grained tannins and vibrant freshness. The balance between concentration and minerality leads to a long, elegant and vertical finish.

Ao Yun 2022 is crafted from a Bordeaux-style blend including:
The grapes come from more than 300 small plots across four villages (Xidang, Sinong, Shuori, Adong), cultivated entirely by hand.
This fragmented terroir allows for exceptional complexity and precise parcel-by-parcel vinification.
Winemaking
Each plot is vinified separately to preserve its identity. The wine is aged in a combination of:
- French oak barrels (new and used)
- Traditional Chinese clay jars
This approach ensures both aromatic purity and structural refinement.
