The timeless elegance of Château Coucheroy wines
A storied estate shaped by its terroir
Located in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, Château Coucheroy is a historic Bordeaux estate whose name recalls a royal visit from Henri IV. The estate gained new momentum in 1979 under the leadership of André Lurton, who implemented modern winemaking techniques while respecting family tradition. Today, the estate is managed by his descendants, continuing a legacy of passion and precision.
The vineyard’s gravel soils, or “graves,” enable deep root penetration and ideal drainage, helping grapes mature with consistency and depth. Coupled with a mild maritime climate influenced by the nearby Atlantic Ocean, these natural conditions form the backbone of the estate’s distinctive style: refined, structured, and expressive wines that reflect their origin vintage after vintage.
The red wines, made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, offer deep ruby colors and aromatic intensity. They deliver layers of ripe black fruits, spices, and subtle oak nuances acquired during aging in French barrels. These wines show impressive aging potential, developing further complexity over time.
The white wines, primarily from Sauvignon Blanc, along with Sémillon and Muscadelle, display a pale golden hue and a delicate bouquet of citrus fruits, white flowers, and stone fruit. The palate is fresh and mineral, with a crisp, vibrant finish. A partial barrel fermentation lends richness and balance without overshadowing the wine’s aromatic purity.
A versatile wine range for perfect pairings
Thanks to their depth and harmony, Château Coucheroy’s wines pair beautifully with a wide variety of dishes. The reds are ideal for grilled or roasted meats such as ribeye steak, duck breast, or lamb chops. They are also perfect with slow-cooked meals like beef bourguignon or venison stew. Aged cheeses like Comté or mature Brie highlight the wine’s structure and enhance its length.
The whites shine alongside seafood and fish, whether grilled, poached, or served with creamy sauces. Dishes like scallops, sea bass, or roasted poultry match the wine’s freshness and precision. They also complement soft cheeses like fresh goat cheese or feta, offering a complete and refined tasting experience.
Château Coucheroy wines combine Bordeaux’s heritage with modern finesse. Whether enjoyed young or after a few years of aging, these cuvées are reliable choices for connoisseurs and newcomers alike. They are available in several vintages and formats from 12bouteilles.com, where excellence meets accessibility.
