Clos Marsalette, the elegance of Pessac-Léognan revealed
A unique terroir and expert craftsmanship
Clos Marsalette is a discreet yet prestigious vineyard located in Martillac, at the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation. Its gravelly soils, mixed with limestone clay, offer optimal sun exposure and excellent drainage—perfect for nurturing grape varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc for reds, and Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon for whites. These conditions allow for a rich aromatic profile and a beautifully balanced structure in every vintage.
Revitalized in the 1990s, the 12-hectare estate is a model of balance between heritage and innovation. Sustainable practices—certified HVE—ensure respectful cultivation of the vines. Grapes are hand-harvested, carefully sorted, and vinified in small batches. Aging in French oak barrels refines the wines and enhances complexity, resulting in cuvées that are both elegant and expressive.
Clos Marsalette’s red wines offer deep color and aromas of black fruits, spices, and subtle oak. On the palate, they are structured yet silky, with refined tannins and great length. The whites shine with brightness and freshness, combining citrus, floral, and exotic notes with crisp minerality and remarkable finesse.
A celebrated wine to enjoy or age
Clos Marsalette has earned its reputation as a consistent and high-quality wine from Pessac-Léognan. Notable vintages like 2010, 2015, and 2016 showcase impressive depth, balance, and aging potential. Whether you are a seasoned collector or a wine lover discovering Bordeaux, this wine is an excellent addition to any cellar. Over time, it reveals deeper layers of complexity and elegance.
The red wine pairs beautifully with roasted meats, game, or traditional stews. Decant it for an hour and serve at 16–18°C for optimal tasting. The white wine is ideal with grilled fish, shellfish, or soft cheeses, best enjoyed between 10–12°C to appreciate its freshness and complexity.
Clos Marsalette is available on 12bouteilles.com, where several vintages are offered with delivery across France and Europe. For proper storage, keep bottles on their side in a cool, dark place around 12°C. Whether for aging or enjoying now, Clos Marsalette stands as a refined choice among Bordeaux’s finest wines.
