The Var is a wine appellation whose wines are produced in the vineyard of Provence-Corsica, vineyard in the south-east of France and more precisely in the wine region of Provence.
Its terroir benefits from a Provençal Mediterranean climate and limestone, shale, granite, phyllite, sandstone, marl and alluvial sands soils.
The Var has the European label IGP (Protected Geographical Indication). Note that the IGP label replaces the VDP label (Vin De Pays) since 2009.
