Château des Tours and Château Rayas: The Singular Vision of Emmanuel Reynaud

A legacy of excellence in the Rhône Valley

Emmanuel Reynaud is a benchmark name in Rhône Valley winemaking, overseeing the revered Château des Tours in Vacqueyras and the iconic Château Rayas in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. He continues a family legacy built on artisanal practices, minimal intervention, and deep respect for terroir. Each bottle he crafts reveals a distinctive signature: wines of emotion, harmony, and exceptional aging potential.

At Château des Tours, the clay-limestone soils of Sarrians and Mediterranean climate allow grenache to thrive, supported by syrah and cinsault. The red wines are expressive and balanced, marked by ripe red fruit, silky tannins, and fresh spice. The white, 100% grenache blanc, offers floral complexity and mineral-driven purity. Château Rayas, by contrast, is planted solely with grenache on sandy soils, free of the region’s typical galets, producing remarkably refined wines with a Burgundian elegance.

Manual harvesting, gentle fermentation in concrete vats, and long aging in old foudres help preserve fruit purity while allowing structure and complexity to evolve over time. Reynaud’s wines are produced in small volumes and stand out for their expressive character, timeless style, and rare availability. These exceptional cuvées are now offered through 12bouteilles.

Iconic cuvées and a refined stylistic identity

Château des Tours delivers several benchmark cuvées. The Vacqueyras red (80% grenache, 20% syrah) offers depth and length, with notes of ripe cherry, herbs, and pepper. The Côtes-du-Rhône red blends 65% grenache, 15% cinsault, and 20% syrah, and charms with its fresh fruit character and elegant spice. The white Côtes-du-Rhône, made from 100% grenache blanc, displays white flowers, citrus, and a taut mineral finish.

Château Rayas remains a singular masterpiece. Its 10-hectare sandy vineyard, planted solely with grenache, yields wines of rare grace and aromatic finesse—wild strawberries, rose petals, subtle spice, and earthy undertones. These wines are built to age for decades, slowly developing complexity, harmony, and unforgettable depth.
