Located in the small yet promising Côtes de Francs appellation on Bordeaux’s right bank, Château de Francs boasts a rich medieval heritage. However, its true revival came in the late 20th century, when two Bordeaux icons — Hubert de Boüard and Dominique Hébrard — took over the estate and breathed new life into it.
Spread across 37 hectares, the vineyards thrive on clay-limestone soils that enhance varietal expression. The dominant Merlot brings roundness and aromatic richness, while Cabernet Franc contributes freshness and finesse, and Cabernet Sauvignon lends depth and structure. The blend results in a wine that’s well-balanced, expressive, and deeply rooted in its terroir.
Committed to sustainable and precise viticulture, the estate employs manual harvesting, low yields, and minimal intervention. "Les Cerisiers" is the estate’s signature wine, a reflection of care, tradition, and modern excellence — approachable yet crafted with the same attention as Bordeaux's finest labels.
Upon pouring, Château de Francs "Les Cerisiers" displays a deep ruby color with violet hues. The bouquet is elegant and layered, offering aromas of black cherry, plum, and blackcurrant, accented with soft spices and a touch of oak. On the palate, it is round and full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a mineral freshness.
The structure allows for both early drinking and cellaring, with an aging potential of 8 to 10 years. As it matures, it develops earthy and truffled notes, gaining in depth and complexity. It pairs beautifully with grilled meats, rich stews, and mature cheeses, and should be served at around 17°C, preferably decanted for an hour to reveal its full potential.
