Château de la Rivière: The Elegance of Fronsac Wines

An exceptional terroir and centuries of winemaking heritage

Perched above the Dordogne River, Château de la Rivière is one of the most iconic estates of the Fronsac appellation. With over 100 hectares of land, including 65 hectares of meticulously maintained vines, the estate benefits from a clay-limestone soil and a temperate microclimate, ideal for ripening grapes to perfection. The vineyard’s privileged location ensures rich, well-structured wines with remarkable finesse.

Merlot dominates the blend, offering velvety texture, ripe fruit and supple tannins. It is artfully blended with Cabernet Franc for structure and spice, Cabernet Sauvignon for power and aging potential, and a touch of Malbec for added depth. Grapes are harvested by hand, fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, and aged in French oak barrels for 12 to 18 months, depending on the cuvée.

The estate crafts several outstanding wines: the signature Grand Vin, complex and refined; Les Sources, a fruit-forward second wine ideal for earlier drinking; and Aria, a prestigious cuvée made only in the best vintages, showcasing the highest expression of the terroir.

Wines from Château de la Rivière are celebrated for their aromatic depth and elegance. Young vintages exhibit black cherry, blackberry, plum and spicy vanilla notes.
