Château Petit-Village: Pure Pomerol Expression
A historic estate shaped by a singular terroir
Located atop the plateau of Pomerol, Château Petit-Village is a quintessential expression of Bordeaux’s Right Bank elegance. The 10.5-hectare vineyard is dominated by Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Its clay-gravel soils allow perfect drainage while retaining the moisture necessary for optimal grape ripening — the secret to the wine’s aromatic depth and silky structure.
Recent years have brought a renaissance to the estate, thanks to strategic vineyard replanting, precise manual harvesting, and modern winemaking techniques. The result is a range of wines that consistently reflect balance, purity, and intensity. Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by 18 to 20 months of aging in oak barrels, mostly new, to preserve fruit precision while adding elegant toasty complexity.
Each vintage reveals the harmony between terroir and craftsmanship, delivering powerful yet refined wines that age gracefully while offering depth, freshness, and exceptional length on the palate.
Signature wines, ideal food pairings, and standout vintages
Château Petit-Village wines exhibit a deep ruby color, aromas of ripe black fruits, violet, and spices, and a palate that blends structure with elegance. The tannins are well-integrated and polished, offering a lingering, mineral finish that defines the Pomerol style.
The estate’s second label, Le Jardin de Petit-Village, delivers accessibility and finesse, perfect for earlier drinking yet crafted with the same care and attention as the grand vin. It’s an excellent way to explore the château’s distinctive profile.
Vintage highlights include 2015, known for its charm and immediate pleasure; 2016, admired for its structure and balance; and 2018, offering richness, energy, and great aging potential. Each reflects the estate’s ability to adapt and thrive under diverse climatic conditions.
Serve these wines between 16–18°C and decant younger bottles to fully release their aromatic complexity. Ideal pairings include duck breast, lamb chops with herbs, or aged cheeses such as Comté or Pecorino.
Available at 12bouteilles, Château Petit-Village stands among the finest examples of Pomerol sophistication and authenticity.
