Nestled in the prestigious Haut-Médoc appellation, Château Cambon la Pelouse stands as a rising star among the Left Bank Bordeaux wines. The vineyard spans 60 hectares of deep gravel soils, ideally located between Margaux and Pauillac, close to the Gironde estuary. These unique conditions provide a mild microclimate, allowing for optimal grape ripening and aromatic complexity.
With origins dating back to the 18th century, the château experienced a major transformation in the 1990s through significant investments in the cellar, vineyard management, and modern vinification techniques. Today, the estate produces consistently high-quality wines that combine finesse, structure, and aging potential. As a certified Cru Bourgeois, each vintage meets strict quality standards validated by independent tastings.
Château Cambon la Pelouse is composed of classic Médoc varietals: Merlot (smoothness and red fruit), Cabernet Sauvignon (structure and depth), Cabernet Franc (finesse and aromatic lift), and Petit Verdot (spice and richness). Grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, then aged for 12 to 15 months in oak barrels, one-third of which are new, adding elegance and integrated wood aromas.
The result is a refined wine with deep color and expressive notes of blackberry, blackcurrant, spice, vanilla, and a hint of cocoa. The palate is velvety yet powerful, with well-integrated tannins, bright freshness, and long-lasting finish. Exceptional vintages like 2009, 2010, 2015, and 2016 showcase the estate’s ability to craft age-worthy wines with distinct identity.
Whether paired with red meats, game, truffle-based dishes or aged cheeses, Château Cambon la Pelouse delivers balance, depth, and excellent value for a Cru Bourgeois wine from the Médoc. Explore this outstanding Bordeaux red at 12bouteilles.
