Château Fleur Cardinale: A Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé of Exceptional Character
A prestigious vineyard and masterful grape blend
Nestled on the rolling clay-limestone hills of Saint-Émilion, Château Fleur Cardinale enjoys an ideal location with perfect sun exposure to the south/southeast. Spanning 23.5 hectares, the vineyard thrives on well-drained, mineral-rich soils that enhance the depth and balance of its wines. This exceptional terroir allows for the full expression of Bordeaux’s noble grape varieties.
The vineyard is composed of 76% Merlot, bringing roundness and plush fruit character; 22% Cabernet Franc, offering structure and aromatic lift; and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon, contributing freshness and depth. All grapes are hand-harvested, ensuring precision and quality from vine to vat.
Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, allowing for gentle and precise fermentation. The wine is then aged for 12 to 14 months in predominantly new French oak barrels. This detailed process results in wines of remarkable finesse, velvety tannins, and excellent aging potential.
A distinctive wine for present enjoyment and future cellaring
On the nose, Château Fleur Cardinale reveals rich aromas of black cherry, plum, blackberry, and hints of violet and spice. The palate is generous and smooth, structured by elegant tannins and a lingering, fresh finish marked by dark fruit and licorice. This wine pairs perfectly with roasted meats, saucy dishes like beef stew, or aged cheeses.
It is best served at 16–18°C after decanting for 1 to 2 hours to fully express its complexity. The estate also offers a second label, Intuition de Fleur Cardinale, crafted with the same care but in a more approachable style, ideal for earlier drinking.
Renowned for its consistent quality, Château Fleur Cardinale continues to impress vintage after vintage. Available on 12bouteilles, this Grand Cru Classé is a must-have for wine enthusiasts seeking elegance, depth, and age-worthy wines from Saint-Émilion.
