Located in the northwestern reaches of the Saint-Émilion appellation, Château Chauvin stands as a testament to the timeless elegance of Bordeaux’s classified growths. The estate covers 15 contiguous hectares, rooted in soils of ancient sands and deep clay. This exceptional terroir, paired with a temperate climate, provides the ideal conditions for the ripening of Merlot — the dominant varietal — as well as Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Recognized as a Grand Cru Classé since 1955, Château Chauvin has earned its reputation for crafting wines of balance, silkiness, and aromatic richness. Surrounded by some of the most prestigious estates on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, its location contributes to the singular character of its wines, known for their freshness, depth, and age-worthiness.
In 2014, Sylvie Cazes and her children acquired Château Chauvin, ushering in a period of renaissance. Vineyard restructuring and technical modernization followed, with a clear focus on precision viticulture. Parcels are now vinified separately, allowing the distinct identity of each micro-terroir to shine through in the final blends.
Grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted before undergoing fermentation in temperature-controlled vats. Aging takes place in French oak barrels for 15 to 18 months, striking a perfect balance between oak influence and fruit purity. Each step in the process is meticulously managed to ensure elegance and complexity in every bottle.
The wines of Château Chauvin captivate with their harmony, density, and persistent finish. Each vintage represents the domain’s ongoing commitment to excellence and is now available at 12bouteilles.
