Château Larcis Ducasse: A Premier Grand Cru Classé at the Pinnacle of Saint-Émilion
A story of heritage, terroir, and winemaking excellence
Château Larcis Ducasse is a benchmark estate of Bordeaux’s Right Bank. Located on the limestone-rich hillsides of Saint-Émilion, this 11-hectare property earned its Premier Grand Cru Classé status in 2012. It continues to impress with each vintage, offering wines that blend power and elegance. Its south-facing slope, ideal drainage, and complex clay-limestone soils provide optimal conditions for growing the Merlot and Cabernet Franc vines that define the estate’s signature style.
Owned by the Gratiot Alphandéry family, the estate is managed by renowned winemaker Nicolas Thienpont. Alongside esteemed oenologists Stéphane Derenoncourt and Julien Lavenu, he has elevated Château Larcis Ducasse to new heights. The vineyard is planted with 78% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc, with an average vine age of 35 years. This maturity brings richness and precision to the wines, which reflect the best of Saint-Émilion's unique terroir.
A refined and age-worthy wine with strong personality
Larcis Ducasse wines are known for their deep color, expressive bouquet, and beautifully balanced structure. Aromas of ripe black fruits, truffle, spices, and violet unfold gracefully. On the palate, the wine reveals a velvety texture, silky tannins, and a persistent, mineral-driven finish. Each sip captures the elegance and complexity of its origin.
Ideal with fine cuisine, this Saint-Émilion gem pairs perfectly with roasted meats, duck confit, or mushroom dishes. It also enhances the flavors of aged cheeses like Comté or Brie de Meaux. Young vintages benefit from decanting, while mature bottles deliver a polished and luxurious tasting experience. Château Larcis Ducasse is available at 12bouteilles for collectors and enthusiasts seeking a refined Right Bank treasure.
