Château Olivier: The Essence of Pessac-Léognan
A Classified Growth in the Heart of Graves
Château Olivier, nestled in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, is one of the few estates to be classified for both its red and white wines. Located on deep gravel soils just south of Bordeaux, this historic estate is managed by the de Bethmann family, preserving a legacy of quality and precision.
Spanning 55 hectares, the vineyard is cultivated with environmentally conscious practices. The estate produces structured, elegant wines that express the unique terroir. Its second wine, L’Olivier, offers a more accessible yet refined alternative for earlier enjoyment while maintaining the château’s signature style.
The red wines, made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, display deep color, aromas of ripe red and black fruits, spices, and a supple, balanced palate with elegant tannins. The finish is persistent, making them excellent for cellaring.
The white wines, blended from Sauvignon and Sémillon, stand out with vibrant freshness, floral and citrus notes, and the distinctive smoky mineral character of the region. They are structured and refined, perfect for pairing with seafood or to enjoy as an elegant aperitif.
Food pairings, vintages and online availability
Château Olivier red pairs wonderfully with grilled meats, roasted lamb, game or aged cheeses. The white is ideal with shellfish, grilled fish, white meat dishes and soft cheeses. Each wine showcases balance and depth, enhancing the dining experience.
A wide range of vintages is available, from vibrant, fruit-forward young wines to aged bottles ready for tasting. You’ll find the full selection of Château Olivier wines, including L’Olivier, on 12bouteilles, carefully chosen to offer the best of this prestigious Bordeaux estate.
