Château Croizet-Bages: The Art of Fine Wine in Pauillac
A Historic Classified Growth Anchored in Exceptional Terroir
Located in the prestigious Pauillac appellation, Château Croizet-Bages stands proudly as a 5th Growth in the iconic 1855 Classification. Spanning 25 hectares, the vineyard is planted on classic sandy-gravel soils, renowned for producing elegant, structured, and age-worthy Bordeaux wines. The proximity to the Gironde estuary creates a unique microclimate that fosters optimal grape ripening while preserving freshness and balance, key traits in the finest Médoc wines.
The estate’s long history dates back to the 18th century, marking it as one of the region’s foundational châteaux. Its name has become synonymous with consistency, tradition, and excellence. Croizet-Bages’ vineyard is dominated by cabernet sauvignon (70%), supported by merlot (20%) and cabernet franc (10%). This traditional Pauillac blend results in powerful yet refined wines, offering aromas of blackcurrant, graphite, cedar, and subtle toasted notes.
The wines are deep in color, expressive on the nose, and generous on the palate. Their firm yet silky tannins provide structure and longevity. With aging, they develop complex secondary aromas and a remarkably smooth texture, making them a treasured addition to any serious wine collection.
A Family Revival Focused on Precision and Excellence
Under the stewardship of the Quié family, Château Croizet-Bages has undergone a profound transformation. Jean-Michel and Anne-François Quié have applied their extensive experience to revitalize the estate, aiming to restore its prestige and bring out its full potential. This evolution includes thorough vineyard replanting, detailed parcel selection, environmentally conscious viticulture, and a complete upgrade of the winery’s technical infrastructure.
Today, the estate's recent vintages reflect this renewed ambition. With carefully controlled vinification, oak aging tailored to each plot, and a renewed focus on terroir-driven expression, the wines now command attention for their purity, depth, and refinement. Long, mineral finishes and a poised elegance define each bottle, earning praise from critics and connoisseurs alike.
Available at 12bouteilles, Château Croizet-Bages has become a go-to choice for collectors and enthusiasts looking to explore the timeless elegance and structured beauty of Pauillac’s great wines.
