Located in the prestigious Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux, Château Batailley is a historic estate recognized for its elegance, consistency, and rich winemaking tradition. Ranked as a 5th Growth in the official 1855 classification, the estate enjoys an exceptional position on the Bages plateau, where deep gravel soils offer ideal drainage and heat retention—perfect conditions for cultivating Cabernet Sauvignon, the region’s flagship grape.
Covering 75 hectares, the vineyard is cultivated with sustainable practices, respecting both the land and the vine. The varietal composition reflects the classic Left Bank blend: a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and aging potential, while Merlot contributes roundness and fruit, and small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot enhance aromatic complexity. The resulting wines showcase layered aromas of blackcurrant, cherry, tobacco, cedar, and sweet spices, evolving gracefully with time in bottle.
Château Batailley is known for its bold choice not to produce a second wine—a rare stance in Bordeaux. Every grape harvested is devoted to the estate’s Grand Vin, allowing total focus on quality and terroir expression. This philosophy results in a wine that truly encapsulates the strength, depth, and balance of great Pauillac vintages, without dilution or compromise.
The winemaking process blends traditional methods with modern precision. Grapes are hand-harvested, carefully sorted, and vinified in temperature-controlled vats before aging in fine French oak barrels for 16 to 18 months. The result is a full-bodied, structured wine with silky tannins, vibrant freshness, and a long, expressive finish. Appreciated by collectors and wine lovers alike, Château Batailley delivers exceptional value for money, and is available in optimal conditions through 12bouteilles.
