Château Batailley: A Quintessential Pauillac Grand Cru

A historic Bordeaux estate deeply rooted in the Pauillac terroir

Located in the prestigious Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux, Château Batailley is a historic estate recognized for its elegance, consistency, and rich winemaking tradition. Ranked as a 5th Growth in the official 1855 classification, the estate enjoys an exceptional position on the Bages plateau, where deep gravel soils offer ideal drainage and heat retention—perfect conditions for cultivating Cabernet Sauvignon, the region’s flagship grape.

Covering 75 hectares, the vineyard is cultivated with sustainable practices, respecting both the land and the vine. The varietal composition reflects the classic Left Bank blend: a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and aging potential, while Merlot contributes roundness and fruit, and small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot enhance aromatic complexity. The resulting wines showcase layered aromas of blackcurrant, cherry, tobacco, cedar, and sweet spices, evolving gracefully with time in bottle.
